Living a Life of Intention: What Will You Leave Behind?

We all come into this world on a specific day—a date stamped on a birth certificate, etched into family memory, and celebrated each year with candles and cake. But the day we leave this world? That remains a mystery.

This truth, both sobering and sacred, reminds us that life is not about how long we live, but how we live. We are each given a span of time—unknown in its length—but it is ours to shape, to fill, and to live with purpose.

This reflection has taken on even deeper meaning for me recently, as my mother peacefully passed away last week. Walking alongside her in her final days was one of the most humbling, heart-wrenching, and illuminating experiences of my life. It reminded me, in the most personal way, that every day truly is a gift. And that what matters most isn't the quantity of our days, but their quality—the choices we make, the love we give, the legacy we leave behind.

A life of intention is not about perfection. It’s about alignment. It's waking up and asking ourselves, Am I living in a way that reflects who I truly am? It's about being present, being kind, and being brave enough to create something that outlasts us.

We don't get to choose when we say our final goodbye. But we do get to choose how we show up while we're here. We get to choose whether we spend our time chasing the wind—or whether we plant seeds that grow into something beautiful.

My mother’s time here may be complete, but her presence is everywhere. In the stories we tell. In the love she shared. In the values she lived each day. That is a legacy. And even now, she is teaching me to live with greater intention, to love more deeply, and to make every day count.

So,  I leave you with this question: What are you doing with the life you’ve been given?

Because the most important thing isn’t when we leave this world—it’s what we leave behind.
